CLA’s Check Permissions search tool gives users a quick, simple solution to finding out whether a title is covered under their CLA Licence. Check Permissions searches a database of millions of publications, including digital and print versions of books, journals, magazines and websites, and returns a definitive answer on what can be copied, shared or reused, giving the user piece of mind that they are copyright compliant. CLA is the recognised UK collective rights licensing body and its Check Permissions search tool currently handles 150,000 searches every month.
The Check Permissions API is now integrated with Reprints Desk’s Article Galaxy Widget (AGW). AGW simplifies low cost access to full-text scholarly papers via PubMed, Google Scholar, and more than 50 other popular search and discovery tools. The system now shows CLA Licence permissions though the Check Permissions API, meaning that users will now be able to find documents for supply and check permissions all in one place. This will streamline the document supply service for AGW customers and save them significant time and effort.
James Bennett, Head of Rights and Licensing, said:
“We are delighted to be partnering with Reprints Desk to enable more licensed customers fast and easy access to the content they need, safe in the knowledge that they are being copyright compliant.
“By integrating our unique repertoire data with third party services, like Rights Desk’s Article Galaxy Widget, we are able to streamline workflows for our licensees and help simplify copyright.”
“Reprints Desk’s partnership with CLA delivers a breakthrough in compliance and research efficiency for U.K. knowledge workers,” adds Scott Ahlberg, Chief Operations Officer at Reprints Desk. “Article Galaxy Widget saves time for users by simplifying their ability to legally acquire and view re-use of copyrighted information at the point of discovery.”
CLA is committed to delivering solutions that best meet our customers’ needs, and continues to develop APIs and build relationships with third party service providers to give customers greater access to content.
