The Schools Printed Music Licence (SPML) is hosting a Creatives Corner session at the upcoming Music and Drama Education Expo (MDEE), exploring the business of printed music royalties and the value of printed published music in schools.
On Feb 22 and 23, the SPML will host Creatives Corner sessions from 12:15-12:45, 'Printed Music - Rewarding the People that Matter'. Speakers for the sessions include Emma Coulthard from the Cardiff & Vale of Glamorgan Music Service (both dates), Tom Farncombe from Music Sales (22 Feb), and Richard Paine from Faber Music (23 Feb).
The focus of the sessions will be the importance of printed music in education and the value it brings to students, with a look at how the SPML supports music teachers and schools while also rewarding composers and publishers for the use of their work. Attendees of the sessions can hope to gain better understanding of the relationship between the SPML, schools and creators. There will also be opportunity to ask the experts questions. Find out more about MDEE and how to attend this unique session.
The SPML, a product of Printed Music Licensing Ltd (PMLL), provides music teachers annual blanket permission to copy and reuse content from printed music. Since 2013, CLA has acted as the exclusive agent for PMLL.
