We were delighted to launch our new and improved Education Blog at the beginning of July, which combines our old Schools and Further Education Blogs. After welcoming our readers to the new home of our blog, we posted a wide range of blogs from both CLA staff and external writers throughout July.
The Education Platform and Copyright Licensing Agency exist to simplify copyright for content users, and we often get asked by teachers about what they can and can’t do under the Education Licence. Most teachers use materials protected by copyright as part of their daily teaching routine, so we included a blog that gives an overview of teachers’ licence to copy and Julie Murray discussed the idea of seeking permission by drawing on a childhood memory. It’s also never too early to teach students about plagiarism and respecting intellectual property, so we provided three practical lesson ideas around copyright for teachers to use in class.
The past few months have been extraordinary for the whole World, and it was great to see how teachers, authors and publishers adapted to the change to provide students and children with continued access to teaching and published resources. You can see this roundup of all the blog posts we published during COVID-19 lockdown, as well as a brilliant piece from Hannah Dalton (assistant vice principal) and Kiran Mahil (teacher and school leader) who have put together a roadmap for renewal to help schools shape the education landscape for September and beyond.
July has also been a big month for the Education Platform - as well as adding 200 new books to the platform, we were delighted to welcome books from five new publishers for teachers to unlock and use in their preparation for the next academic year. And finally, to help simplify the registration process, George Hamilton-Jones answered popular questions he has received from teachers looking to get going with the Education Platform.
We hope you enjoyed our July blogs, and we’re already excited to share more education blogs in August!
