Media Consultancy Licence

The CLA Media Consultancy Licence (MCL) is for public relations, marketing, advertising or media agencies that supply copies of articles or links to articles to external clients. It is offered as an upgrade to the CLA Business Licence which permits copying of content for use internally. The MCL provides permissions for copies to be sent externally.

To apply: 

If you already hold a CLA Business Licence 

  1. Download the media_terms
  2. Read the ‘Side Letter’ and Terms and Conditions carefully 
  3. Print, complete and sign the ‘Side Letter’ (Page 1 of the document) 
  4. Post to Copyright Licensing Agency Ltd, FREEPOST RTSJ-ZHUT-AJBH, Barnard’s Inn, 86 Fetter Lane, London EC4A 1EN. 

Note: Please indicate your existing account number if applicable and ensure that the signatory is authorised.    

If you are a new customer 

You will need to apply to be licensed under a CLA Business Licence and we will arrange for it to include your upgrade to the Media Consultancy Licence.

Document delivery licence

For organisations supplying documents to clients.

There are two licences available to organisations that make and deliver copies of documents to third parties.
  • The Low Volume Document Delivery licence is for companies where estimated volume of deliveries will not exceed 100 copies per month within the UK only.
  • The Transactional Document Delivery licence permitting companies to send any number of copies in the UK or worldwide.

Media Monitoring Organisation licence

For companies supplying print or electronic clippings to clients

This licence has been developed in conjunction with the UK Media Monitoring Association (UKMMA) to enable media monitoring organisation or press agencies to supply copies to their clients in paper or digital format. The licence has been recently revised to include web based delivery.

This licence is for central government, local authorities and public bodies.

NHS licence

For NHS trusts and health authorities across the UK & NI 

CLA has centrally negotiated blanket agreements with the NHS covering England, Scotland and Wales and with the Northern Ireland Health and Personal Social Services department for that territory.

As a result of these agreements, Trusts are no longer required to take out individual licences as their photocopying and scanning activities are covered by these licences until further notice.

Library sticker scheme

For walk in users at public libraries

This licence scheme allows walk-in users at public libraries to make copies for commercial purposes upon payment of a fee to the librarian.
