CLA's Intellectual Property Prize
The annual Intellectual Property Prize is a national competition for 16-19 year olds based in UK schools and colleges. We invite entrants to submit a response to the following question:
What does Intellectual Property mean to you?
The competition not only gives students the opportunity to win a cash prize, but allows them to think critically about the relevant topic and provide a great asset to UCAS or employment application.

How to enter
Entries can be submitted in the following ways:
Read through the competition guidance for tips on what to include in your entry and terms and conditions of the competition.
Entries need to be submitted by 11:59pm on 30 June 2022 to CLAcompetitions@cla.co.uk. Entrants need to include their name, date of birth and institution in the covering email.
Judging
2022 judges to be announced.
After 30th June, a panel of judges will be invited to review the entries and the top three prizes chosen.
The entries will be judged on the following criteria:
- Overall knowledge and understanding of IP and permissions
- Use of evidence i.e. real IP issues, IP in industry, IP law, real IP cases
- Explanation of how IP has relevance to you specifically
- Balance and judgement on IP overall
- Skill in the chosen medium
- Overall effort shown
Prizes
The winning entry will receive a prize of £300.
Second and third place prizes will win £200 and £100 respectively.
