This licence has been developed in conjunction with the UK Media Monitoring Association (UKMMA) to enable press cuttings agencies (PCAs) to make copies and supply them to their clients in paper or electronic format.
In addition to enabling agencies to send hard copy and digital press cuttings to their clients, the new licence recognises the increased use of the web and ensures that digital delivery is licensed.
If you are a clients organisation of a press cuttings agency and receive clippings, read the note below to see your obligations.
Do you receive press cuttings from a PCA or media monitoring agency?
From 1 April 2009 all clients of PCAs that receive multiple access to clippings from magazines, journals or books, either through a web-based portal or receipt by other methods of electronic delivery, must hold a valid licence from CLA or other appropriate authority to ensure legal copying - to read more click here
If your copying includes national or regional newspapers then it is likely that you will also require a licence from the Newspaper Licensing Agency (NLA) in addition to the CLA licence. To see a summary of how the licences compare, click here or to find out more go to www.nla.co.uk

The CLA licence is absolutely essential to ensure that clients can access content legitimately. Another important benefit is that it helps to maintain a level playing field in that unlicensed agencies are not permitted to operate in the UK.
