How to calculate the licence fee

The annual fee for the CLA Pharmaceutical Licence is calculated by multiplying the number of ‘Professional Employees' in your organisation by the rate card unit fee of the licence you wish to take.

Definition of ‘Professional Employee'

Although your CLA licence will enable any employee to benefit from the permissions provided, the fee that you pay is based only on the number of 'Professional Employees' in your organisation.

For the purposes of the fee calculation 'Professional Employee' is defined as:

  • Directors, officers or employees (other than sales representatives) of the licensee who are graduates or who hold an equivalent qualification.

There may be no need to conduct an in-depth analysis of your company's staff to obtain this figure as your payroll may be able to classify staff on this basis. If you need guidance or advice on this please contact our Business Development Manager for the pharmaceutical sector, Leon Skelton on 020 7400 3131 or Leon.skelton@cla.co.uk

The rate card fees from October 2010 are as follows

Licence

Professional Employee rate

Digital Pharmaceutical Licence

£64.00 + VAT

For example, if you have 100 total employees and 20 of those are identified as Professional Employees, the annual fee for the Digital Pharmaceutical Licence would be 20 x £64.00 = £1,280.00 + VAT

Please note a minimum annual fee of £414.75 + VAT applies to pharmaceutical licences.
