Plagiarism Advisory Service
Plagiarism consists of presenting someone else’s work – by means of either word-for-word copying or close paraphrasing – and “passing off” as your own.
While not every act of plagiarism may be an infringement of copyright law, each instance constitutes a breach of academic regulations and is detrimental to the authors and publishers whose work is used in this way.
In conjunction with the Publishers Licensing Society (PLS), the Authors Licensing and Collecting Society (ALCS) and the Design and Artists Copyright Society (DACS), CLA supports the efforts of the JISC Plagiarism Advisory Service in preventing and detecting student plagiarism in Higher Education.
