CLA issues two types of further education licence.
- licences for state funded (incorporated) FE colleges that are negotiated with the Association of Colleges (AoC - also representing ANIC in Northern Ireland and Fforwm in Wales) and the Association of Scottish Colleges (ASC).
- licences for other independent further and vocational educational and training colleges that are administered with the assistance of the British Accreditation Council (BAC).
